If he is going spells or totems he will have a shield anyways.I’ll describe the two theories, explain why each is plausible, and then ask which provides the better explanation of the available facts. On the other hand, some of the most dangerous things in the game are physical spells, which evasion does not work against in the slightest.Įva\Arm combo works just fine without acrobatics. It's real weakness is elemental damage, as evasion gets to mitigate it as much as it does phys damage (when it comes from attacks, which seems to be the most dangerous form, bar bosses and a few exceptions). Armor works great against big hits (theoretical 6k+ hits are irrelevant, they don't happen, its more like armor mitigates big hits reasonably and small hits entirely.), especially combined with a few endurance charges. Ideally getting a good mix of both + acro is ideal. I did a tri totem EE build with an arc totem, frost nova totem, and searing bond, was quite effective.Īrmor is great at mitigating small hits, but bigger hits is where it falls short and evasion is better. Some one with more experience should chime in on that. I'm not sure if that applies to totems or not though. Thats most of what i remember for now, feel free to ask if there are any questions :) You will want to have these main skill setups: Searing bond - Empower - Inc burn damage Trap - ice nova - multitrap or similiar, whatever you enjoy Curse on hit - Arc - ele weakness - flameability - temp chains/enfeeble Use the windscream unique boots for +1 curse, +1 from tree, so you can curse the enemies with 3 curses and apply EE, with this setup you will be super tanky and still do decent damage. To trigger EE you have to do damage, so you have to use traps for this. Problem is ancestral bond causes you to do NO damage with your spells yourself. The burn damage from searing bond doesnt trigger EE, so once you hit them with lightning/cold damage once they get the debuff for a while. Tricky thing you have to know for this build to work: Elemental equilibrium is MUST HAVE, since its a gigantic damage boost. Specced out of some life and got you extra curse, some aura. The tree looks fine, i refined it a bit here: Inc burn damage - this is must have Totem elemental resistances - nice to have but not really needed Empower - also must have in my opinion, adds a ton of damage and life to your totemsĪs you can see you only really need 2 support gems, so you can use a sceptre with +3 total fire gems level (cheap) and socket your main skill in it. Not many support gems affect searing bond, here are the important ones: I would not use searing touch (i know a lot of guides say you should), i would use a 1 handed sceptre with +1 gem level +2 fire gems, this will give you similiar dps so searing touch, is a lot cheaper and gives you a free shield slot for some really nice stats :) Hey, searing bond is not bad, its not the fastest clearing skill but its pretty decent until rly late in the game, and imo its good for a first build. Holy Fire is right next to Whispers of Doom, now, so setting up Arctic Breath + Curse on Hit + Elemental Weakness + Flammability will let you solo more-or-less effectively, and you can change out the curses for Temporal Chains and Enfeeble in groups to lock down enemies while your allies provide the DPS. One of the big ways for Searing Bond to get good damage is going to be curses. Basically no auras benefit Searing Bond, but that means you can run defensive auras or even Blood Magic and get really tanky. Not a lot of support gems work with Searing Bond, but that also means Searing Bond is going to be cheaper to cast and you don't have to invest as much in mana to offset the cost. Holy Fire is now right on the optimal Curse/Aura path through the tree, and all the drawbacks of Searing Bond can be worked as benefits for the skill if you build it the right way.įor example, Searing Bond's damage is hard to scale because it doesn't hit or crit, but the base is relatively high, and scaling specifically for "burning" damage is also rather high. Searing Bond is a decent skill that actually lends itself well to more supportive specs, IMO.
